Back when we were kids Whenever we'd fight We'd each have a safety blanket To wrap up in tight.
But as we grew up We packed it away Into a box we swore it would stay.
But lately I've noticed When we have a fall out I find myself Taking it out.
I wrap it around me To keep me from harm After all this time It still works like a charm.
But I never did realize How it often wore thin And how the best safety blanket Was the one stored within.
As I grow up The pain starts to show And I refuse to Let my blanket go.
But then I look at you And my new thoughts rise I have a new blanket Safely in your eyes.
I realize it's time To pack my blanket away And this time I promise In a box it will stay...
