The sun was shining bright today And the stars are out tonight Although outside it's perfect out Inside this room's not right.
I can hear the neighbours laughing And the flicker of the flames The bonfire reflects upon my window Yet I don't join in their games.
I lie awake unwillingly In a bed that's built for two The candles lit, music soft My eye's a different hue.
Covered in black silk Pale white against dark night It seems the perfect setting For an evening of delight.
And smack down in the middle Sprawled out upon the bed I lay there dressed in lace Of midnight black and red.
Though somethings still admist And at last I finally knew It wasn't quite the perfect night For all it lacked, was you.
